Rides and amusements, historic displays, roving entertainers and fireworks were enjoyed by locals and visitors alike at Boddington’s 100th year anniversary on September 8.

Big Fish Media & Events assisted the Shire of Boddington to organise the event, providing event coordination, marketing and promotion.

Crowds enjoyed working sheep dog, blacksmith and blade shearing demonstrations, browsed through vintage car, pram, shearing and rabbit trap displays, took part in a gold nugget dig, old style games and enjoyed music by the Police Pipe Band and the Perth Brass Band at the Boddington Old School.

WA Governor Malcolm McCusker officially opened the event and enjoyed a walk through the displays and a lunch.

The history of Boddington was showcased at a Mining Industry display and at the Town Hall where photos, wedding dresses and old maps were on show.

BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina and Newmont Boddington Gold held mine tours during the day, taking visitors on buses through the bauxite mine, gold mine and processing operations.

The fun then moved to the Boddington Rodeo Grounds with a free family fun day. The event kicked off with top Australian act The Crack Up Sisters taking centre stage in the arena alongside trick riders Teenage Rampage and formation riding.

The crowds watched logchoppers battle it out, enjoyed rides, amusements, face painting, Clydesdale rides, bouncy castles, performances by frilled neck lizards, a magician, clown and a balloon twister and lots more.

Leading Perth band LA Gold performed in the evening, followed by a spectacular fireworks display, produced by Cardile International Fireworks. The family fun day was sponsored by the Shire of Boddington, BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina and Newmont Boddington Gold.
