I
rish sensation Damien Leith delighted a sell-out crowd at The Cube Theatre at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on April 2.
The concert has been brought to Bunbury by the John Boyle O’Reilly Association of Bunbury, as part of an all-Irish weekend celebrating the life of O’Reilly and the South West’s Irish heritage and culture.
Big Fish Media & Events was a major sponsor of the concert, undertaking the public relations and events management.
Other sponsors who come on board to bring Leith to Bunbury included the City of Bunbury, Malatesta Group, Cathie Rice Travel, Piancentini and Son, Perkins, William Barrett and Sons, Southern Aviation, The Rose Hotel, Go West Tours and Professional South Districts Estate Agency.
John Boyle O’Reilly was an active Irish Fenian, a secret society of rebels which led armed uprisings against British rule. He was captured and transported to Bunbury as a convict and escaped to America where he became a prominent, high profile spokesman for his country as editor of Boston newspaper The Pilot, while continuing to arrange the escapes of other Irish convicts from WA.
