Record crowds of more than 13,000 flocked to the Harvey Harvest Festival on March 20.
Visitors and locals alike enjoyed traditional entertainment and fare in the new Italian Piazza, browsed through market stalls and cheered on contestants in the Go for 2 & 5 WA Grape Stomping Championship.
Top Perth act Nearly Famous entertained the crowd on the main stage along with Nick & Fernando who performed popular Italian hits. Local Harvey girl, 12-year-old Corrine Brislin busked her way through the festival with her violin, and Australind man Zeppy Studzinski wowed the crowd on his piano accordion.
Captain Quirk amazed onlookers with his daring juggling and circus skills, while the unusual Beasties surprised children and adults with their unexpected behaviour in the petting zoo.
The best of Harvey’s produce was on offer at a fruit and vegetable market, Italian cooking demonstrations and tastings and in the wine precinct.
Harvey Mainstreet Committee chairman Joe Capogreco said the festival continued to grow in popularity with stallholders and the crowd.
“It was great to see so many locals and visitors enjoying the festival and so many people and children entering the grape stomp, which is a truly Italian experience,” he said.
