Record crowds flock to 2013 Harvey Harvest Festival

Posted by Big Fish Media
· Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

byh190313sheep2An action packed entertainment program and cooler weather attracted the biggest crowds yet to Sunday’s Go for 2 & 5 Harvey Harvest Festival.

More than 14,000 people enjoyed the flavour of Italy with music from The Times and the spirited Ravioli Brothers on the main stage, while Owen the Fiddler and the Reno Brothers brought The Piazza to life on the second stage.

Crowds parted in amazement as sheep were herded through the festival by Ivan Solomon’s working dogs, which even joined the festivities on the dance floor.

Students from Bunbury Catholic College delighted the crowds with their musical skills, while younger children got their faces painted, explored a life raft at the Royal Australian Navy’s display and patted the animals at Old McDonald’s Travelling Farm.

The ever-growing vintage car display and the pumping, hissing machines from the Old Machinery Club were again a highlight for festival-goers.

Children and adults alike battled it out in the popular Go for 2 & 5 WA Grape Stomping Championship heats, culminating in a fast and furious grand final, cheered on by a roaring crowd.

Festival Coordinator and Big Fish Media Managing Director Monique Warnock said the event continued to grow in popularity because locals and visitors could enjoy a free, entertaining day out.

“Kids can get their faces painted and get up close to animals for free, while adults can taste local produce and enjoy entertainment all day,” Ms Warnock said.

“Not only do people come back time after time, but our stallholders book their bays months in advance and once again we sold out.”
